The Great War was a unique conflict. Fought with guns, spears, swords, planes, and chemicals while in trenches. 

On one side, you had the newly formed German Empire, the crumbling Austria-Hungary, the feisty Tsardom of Bulgaria, and the dying Ottoman Empire.

On the other side, you had the proud Republic of France, the ever-growing British Empire, the endless Russian Empire, the eager Empire of Japan, the confused Kingdom of Italy, and the democratic beacon of the USA.

But this is a debate, not a history lesson. The question: Did the wrong side win?

You cannot judge based on tactics, as both sides used gases and other brutal methods to take trenches. You cannot judge based on goals, as both sides wanted to control Europe in one way or another.

So, do you think the wrong side won? If so, why?
