I’ve been busy travelling around Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia speaking in schools and with communities, talking about a range of social issues. One common themes that I hear from students, parents and teachers is the negative role social media is playing in young peoples lives. 

From assaults being recorded, exposure to inappropriate secular content, online bullying, poor mental health and attention issues, the over use of social media is a big part of the issue. 

How do we help our youth use their phones more intentionally, and ethically? 

Do we need mandatory lessons on being a good cyber citizen as part of the curriculum? Do we need to regulate things better at a Government level? Do we ban smart phones for under 16s?
