A person who menstruates is believed to spend thousands of dollars on period products over their lifetime. I've read some studies which estimate it to be as much as $16,000 which is actually rather depressing. 
With the cost of living at an all time high, PERIOD POVERTY is a very real issue. 
The government can and should subsidise period products so that they're more affordable and accessible for ALL WHO MENSTRUATE.
