Paid parental leave was once a controversial concept and something that was very polarising. I wonder if a a couple days paid menstrual leave each month would be welcomed into workplaces here in Aotearoa? Spain is the latest country to introduce 3 days of paid menstrual leave a month. Other countries that have similar workplace policies in place are Indonesia, Japan & South Korea. 
Period pain, or dysmenorrhoea, is common, in fact more than half of menstruating people experience period pain 1-2 days per month. For those who live with medical Co ditions like endometriosis & PCOS, the pain cam be debilitating. By creating a work environment that allowed someone who suffers from serious menstrual pain to have a 1-3 days of paid leave each month, it would help to destigmatise something that affects so many who are often forced to suffer in silence. Would this help to create a better, more inclusive work environment? I think so but I would love to hear the pros & cons and what others think
