Universal Basic Income as a concept was popularized in the United States by Democratic Presidential candidate Andrew Yang. Yang proposed that every American receive $1000 per month to aid in expenses, and was met with lots of positive reception. Meanwhile, the idea of stimulus checks as an element of COVID relief is supported from leaders all over the political isle. Some Democrats have even proposed altering Yang's UBI proposal to provide UBI to American families until the crisis is over.
